The Vertical Essence Dance Company summer dance program will run Monday through Friday from 9am-3pm. Breakfast will be served from 8am-8:45am. This is an intensive summer dance camp and is strictly for students who are serious about gaining knowledge in the form and technique of dance.  Attendance is very important factor of the company and absences will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Students with several obligations will not be accepted.  Failure to comply with the rules and regulations of the company will result in immediate dismissal from the program and no refund will be given.

 

MATURE Students between the ages of 3-17 will ONLY be allowed into camp.

NOW ACCEPTING OUR TINY TOTS IN THE 2022 DANCE SEASON. IF YOUR CHILD IS OF AGE 3 AND IS MATURE...WE WILL WELCOME THEM WITH OPEN ARMS: MUST BE POTTY TRAINED, LISTENS AND WELL MANNERED.

$500.00 PER CHILD or $85.00 per week

There is a $100.00 deposit due when signing your child/ren up!

CORE CURRICULUM

Vertical Essence Dance Company focuses on teaching students on the beginner and intermediate levels:

 

Beginner Ballet:

Students are taught the basic five positions of ballet, elements of ballet, form and technique.

 

Hip-Hop:

Students are taught the elements and history of hip-hop, abdominal strengthening, break dancing, and footwork and pop locking.

 

Tap:

Students are taught the history, elements and technique of tap.

African:

 

Students are taught the history, culture and technique to West Indie African Dance.

Praise Dance:

Students are taught the history,  elements and technique of gospel praise

Modern:

Students are taught based on techniques of Martha Graham, Cunningham and Horton. 

Contemporary:

Students are taught the history, elements and technique of contemporary dance. 

 

Jazz: 

Students are taught the elements of Jazz and its history with emphasis on cabaret materials 

 

Facial Expressions:

Students are taught how to apply facial expressions and the art of interpretation into dance.  Knowledge of storytelling is also incorporated in this class as well.

 

Dance Terminology:

Students are given terms to define, learn and understand which will become beneficial in their progression in higher levels of Dance in and outside of Vertical Essence Dance Company.

 

Gymnastics:

Students are taught basic tumbling skills, hand stands, balance and cart wheels.

 

During the curriculum students are instructed in dance technique while also being taught approximately 25-30 dance pieces to perform in the annual summer dance production.

DANCE ATTIRE AND RESTRICTIONS: 

ALL CHILDREN MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING BY THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS: 

ALL DANCERS MUST HAVE THEIR OWN MATERIALS-ABSOLUTELY NO SHARING IS ALLOWED

 

1.   A book to read on their reading level OR an education workbook.

2.   A notebook for taking notes and pens or pencils

3.   A folder: This folder is used as daily communication between the teacher and the parents for homework, calendar updates, behavioral reports and weekly parental letters. Parents are expected to check this folder daily for changes and updates in the dance school.

 

  

EVERYTHING MUST BE IN ALL BLACK OR A WEEKLY FINE WILL BE ASSESSED AND YOUR CHILD WILL BE EXCLUDED FROM THE FINAL DANCE PRODUCTION

**All children are required to have all materials daily even if the class is not on the schedule for that day. Each child is responsible for having these materials in a dance bag that should be brought to class daily. Each Dance bag should contain an extra set of clothing for accidents, a small first aid kit, a small person make up kit: foundation, blush, eye-shadow and lipstick: colors are based on the choice of the parent (This make-up is used for costuming only).**

 All students who withdraw from the program, without a valid reason (documented), or students who are expelled, will receive no refund.  Please be sure that this program is something your child is truly interested in.**
